Cash register experience is helpful but not required. An outgoing, friendly personality is required.
The deli counter person will be the “face” of the deli. This person will be based at the deli register and will take all orders from the customer. After giving the order to the appropriate deli staff, they will then take payment from the customer. The most important job of the deli counter staff is to take excellent care of the customer by taking their order efficiently, handling payment quickly and treating them in a friendly manner. In addition to waiting on customers directly, the counter staff will be responsible for learning the menu and prices of all items. They will also be responsible for learning and helping with all opening, running and closing duties. In down times, the counter staff with help maintain the cleanliness of the deli seating area and assist with any other deli or store positions as needed.
